Comforting Tips For Baby Teething

We understand how difficult it is to watch your baby suffer during their early teething period. While some babies are less prone or even have no discomfort while teething, some can get very irritable or appear to be in pain the whole time. To comfort your baby from the pain, here are some simple yet amazing tips for helping him or her get through teething:

1. Gum Massage

You can provide your baby some relief by giving a gum massage to sore and little gums. Wash your hands properly and gently massage their gums in a circular motion. Or, you can offer them a cooling gum massage with a durable teething ring. Keep the plastic teething toy in a fridge or a freezer. They will provide a soothing effect to your baby's gum.

2. Give a Cooling Treat

A cooling sensation helps in soothing your baby's gum. You need to take a clean washcloth, soak it in the water, and keep it in the freezer for 30 to 60 minutes. They will cool your baby's sore gum instantly. However, keep an eye on your child as you don't want your baby to choke on the cloth.

3. Wipe the Drool

One of the main symptoms of teething is drooling. Protect your little one's cloth with soft cloth or bibs that can also be used to wipe their chin. Keep your baby's face clean and dry by wiping off their drool gently. Do not clean it frequently as it can cause rashes and irritation.

4. Give Chilled Fruits

Offer your baby chilled fruits like mashed bananas. This will help in soothing the sore gums and even providing them tasty snacks. You can also give them other fruits like apples, mangoes, strawberries, and ripe pears. However, you have to ensure that they are mashed properly to prevent your baby from choking.

5. Ask a Doctor for Medication

If, after doing these tips, your baby still does not get relief from teething, then you should consult a doctor or pediatrician. They will provide you medications or advice on how to relieve teething symptoms.

Teething is very common in babies. The first few teeth are usually when teething symptoms are worst and mostly disturb your baby’s nighttime sleep. Fortunately, these comforting tips are everything you need to calm down the irritation or pain caused to your baby. You want to make your baby’s first teeth experience memorable. After all, this is one of the best things in your life!
